Coca-Cola India on Wednesday said it is foraying into the ready-to-drink tea beverages segment with the launch of 'Honest Tea'. The brand is owned by Honest, a subsidiary of the Coca-Cola Company.

Sentry has a vast portfolio of conveyance solutions, including table-top conveyor for both bottles and cans, case and pallet conveyor, neck-guided air conveyor, and accumulation conveyor. Additionally, Sentry manufactures a wide array of packaging equipment, including case and bulk palletizing, de-palletizing, and robotic systems.

While details of the capital funding were not disclosed, investment firms Kingswood Capital Management and First Bev indicated it was an eight-figure sum. Gamma Labs has also appointed former Casa Azul Spirits CEO and Flying Embers Hard Kombucha founder Bryan Crowley as G Fuel CEO. Crowley replaces G Fuel founder Clifford Morgan in the top role, with Morgan said to be continuing at the company as a member of its leadership team.

ALPLA is set to introduce a new beverage valve closure system that dispenses liquids only when vacuum or mechanical pressure is applied to an elastic mouthpiece. This no-spill system was developed by Norway’s valve technology company SmartSeal while ALPLA was exclusively responsible for manufacturing this solution from the outset.

Through the latest collaboration, ALPLA now aims to further scale up the production of this solution by taking over all SmartSeal tools and assembly lines at its Fußach facility in Vorarlberg, Austria, starting this month. This effort will allow ALPLA to integrate the closure system into its own product range to offer more options to its global customers.

Through modeling, the researchers predicted the effects of a 20% tax on sugar-sweetened beverages and a tiered tax similar to the one used in the United Kingdom. For each scenario, they estimated changes in sugar consumption, weight, associated medical and societal costs, and the risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke, from 2023 to 2043.

The researchers discovered that during the next 20 years, a tax on sugar-sweetened beverages could reduce sugar intake in the German adult population on average by 1 gram per day, prevent or postpone more than 132,000 cases of type 2 diabetes and save €9.6 billion by encouraging consumers to change their behavior.

An acquisition of Suja would infuse some life into a tepid beverage M&A environment, which saw a 76% decrease in global deal activity this past quarter. Suja was in talks to sell itself to Bolthouse Farms, which is owned by PE firm Butterfly Equity, but it had not retained a financial adviser, the sources say.
