In July, the brand announced that its juices would now come in a narrower bottle with a cap that eliminates the need for an induction seal. The brand also downsized its multi-serving bottles from a 52-ounce to 46-ounce capacity.

Tropicana says that it changed the shape of the bottle so it’s easier to pour and store, while nixing the crown cap for a streamlined and easier-to-open screw top made with less plastic.

Since the change, the juice company has been dealing accusations of shrinkflation from upset customers as well as lower sales, according to some data.

In addition to consumer insights, Keurig Dr. Pepper is digitizing its entire value chain, from production to point-of-sale. The company employs a two-fold approach to distribution, using both direct-store delivery and large retail partnerships. The value chain initiative targets efficiency at each stage, particularly within supply chain planning.

Jack McNamara is the co-founder and CEO of Tru Beverage. The Newton native believes his latest team has a winning combination for success in the wildly competitive beverage industry.

"Every level I played, from pee wees to the pros, was artificial energy drinks, sugary sports drinks. And I wanted to create something better,” McNamara said.

Nine years ago, McNamara launched his enhanced sparkling beverage company. He aimed to create a drink that offered something different for everyone and every part of the day.

Natural beverages also are impacting this interest in tea ingredients, the experts note.

“Brewing tea or including tea ingredients in a beverage is simple and straightforward when compared to sodas or functional beverages that can have long ingredient lists,” Williams and Staniec say. “This inherent simplicity and transparency are especially attractive to consumers who prioritize clean label and crave beverages with less processed ingredients.”

Refresco, the global independent beverage solutions provider for retailers and global, national, and emerging (GNE) brands in Europe, North America, and Australia, today announces the successful closing of its acquisition of Frías Nutrición (“Frías”), a leading manufacturer of plant-based drinks in Spain. This transaction, first announced on July 22, 2024, strengthens Refresco’s position in the rapidly growing plant-based beverage category.

🍊 Citrus News

The South African Citrus Growers' Association (CGA) reported that this year, citrus growers packed 164.5 million 15kg cartons for global delivery, 600,000 cartons less than last year.

Justin Chadwick, the organization's CEO, said the slight decline is still a strong performance for the sector given the truly unique and demanding circumstances growers faced. It's estimated that a total of 10.1 million cartons were diverted to local juicing or lost due to weather events.

The World Citrus Organisation (WCO) has released its annual Northern Hemisphere Citrus Forecast for the upcoming citrus season (2024-25). The Algarve has been chosen to host the International Citrus Congress in 2032, an event that brings together hundreds of experts and industry leaders every four years.

The decision was made during this year’s congress in South Korea, the regional development commission (CCDR Algarve) announced on Tuesday, following a successful bid by the University of Algarve, CCDR Algarve, and AlgarOrange, Portugal’s largest citrus producers’ association, with support from several agricultural and research institutions.

Although it is the offseason period for the tahiti lime, quotations decreased in early November. The downward trend is related to both the size and the quality of the fruit, which are below expected by the sector. However, it is worth noting that price levels are still high.

According to data from Cepea, tahiti lime prices averaged BRL 95.59 per 27.2-kg box in mid-November, downing 16.17% against late October.

The ingredient can be utilized for development of antihypertensive and antidiabetic functional foods or food supplements. Further in vitro and in vivo studies on stability, bioavailability, toxicity and health effects of the ingredient are recommended before its use.
