🇧🇷 Brazil Citrus Crop Forecast Update

The 2024-2025 orange crop forecast for the São Paulo and West-Southwest Minas Gerais citrus belt, published by Fundecitrus on April 10, 2025, concluded at 230.87 million 40.8-kg boxes, a 1% increase from February’s estimate but 24.85% below the prior season. Production includes 37.63 million boxes of early-season Hamlin, Westin, and Rubi; 15.60 million of other early varieties; 74.70 million of Pera Rio; 75.99 million of Valencia and Folha Murcha; and 26.95 million of Natal.
The season faced adverse weather—drought and high temperatures—leading to smaller fruit and an early harvest. Rainfall was 20% below average, and greening caused significant losses (9.05% drop rate). Total production loss was estimated at 50 million boxes, with the next forecast due May 9, 2025.
