The April 2026 USDA citrus forecast projects total United States orange production at 61.61 million boxes. Within this national total, California's production is estimated at 48.5 million boxes (🔼 up 6.6%), Florida's at 12.2 million boxes (🔼 up 2%), and Texas's at 910,000 boxes. The national orange crop includes 45.26 million boxes of non-Valencia varieties and 16.35 million boxes of Valencia oranges. For non-Valencia oranges, California is forecasted to produce 40.0 million boxes, Florida 4.7 million boxes, and Texas 560,000 boxes. In the Valencia category, projected production levels are closer among the top-producing states, with California at 8.5 million boxes, Florida at 7.5 million boxes, and Texas at 350,000 boxes.
In other citrus categories, total United States grapefruit production is forecasted at 7.55 million boxes. This consists of 4.3 million boxes from California, 2.0 million boxes from Texas, and 1.25 million boxes from Florida. National lemon production is projected at 27.85 million boxes, with California accounting for 26.0 million boxes, Arizona 950,000 boxes, and Florida 900,000 boxes. Finally, the United States is forecasted to produce 30.45 million boxes of tangerines and mandarins. This national total comprises 30.0 million boxes from California and 450,000 boxes from Florida.
