PepsiCo, Coca-Cola and Dr. Pepper have a combined market cap of approximately $540 billion, about the same as the GDP of Argentina. In 2014, the full force of that economic power arrived on the leafy streets of Berkeley, a city known for its far-left politics, anti-consumerist mindset and history of lively protest.

The soda industry had successfully fended off at least two dozen cities and states that had previously tried and failed to tax its products, including at the ballot two years earlier in nearby Richmond.

The final and most stringent hurdle, GRAS approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is still pending.

Analysis of the average orange yield per acre in Florida during the last 30 years shows that there have been two very apparent changes in its trend. The first occurred during the period from 2007–08 to 2016–17, when the average orange yield per acre decreased by approximately 55% due to the spread and progression of HLB throughout the state. The second change in orange yield trend started in 2018–19, when the endemic state of the disease combined with multiple factors to push it further down by an estimated 30%.

Florida's groves were heavily impacted by the recent hurricanes, which tore through regions with some of the most productive citrus acreage in the state, Matt Joyner, executive vice president and CEO of Florida Citrus Mutual, the state's largest citrus trade association, told ABC News.
