Apple juice, a perennial lunchroom staple, is a prime example. The vast majority of the apple juice Americans drink is imported from countries like China, and the Trump’s administration’s berserk tariff policies are now reshaping the market, potentially making beloved pome-based beverages more expensive or harder to find.

Citrus News šŸŠ

Egypt, the world’s second larges exporter of fresh oranges and the leading exporter of affordable oranges, is on the cusp of a transformative shift in its citrus industry. EastFruit reports that in 2026, six new factories dedicated to producing orange juice concentrate are set to commence operations, with a combined processing capacity of approximately 2 million tons per year.

Lemon production in the Dominican Republic currently reaches 50,000 tons per year. The country imports between 15% and 20% of this citrus fruit but is now awaiting genetic material from California to help boost domestic supply, according to local outlet El Dinero.

First and foremost, it’s worth noting that the citrus export season from Egypt is coming to an end. As stocks decline, prices traditionally rise. However, this season’s price increase is more dramatic and reaching higher levels than usual.

Specifically, abnormal heat during the orange tree flowering period has reduced Egypt’s harvest by nearly a third. Furthermore, 90% of the fruits are medium-sized, which limits the supply of larger fruits that are in demand in premium markets such as the Gulf states and Eastern European countries.

In this episode, we take you inside one of the most advanced orange juice factories in the world to reveal how oranges go from sun-kissed orchards to perfectly bottled juice, ready to drink.
