Effective immediately, the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), in cooperation with the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), is expanding the citrus greening (Huanglongbing, or HLB) quarantine area in California.
"We have been preparing for Hurricane Helene long before she received an official name," he says. "The preparation is not complicated. It's just time-consuming and disruptive to what we need to be doing."
The demand for Sicilian lemons exploded after the acceptance of the fact in the late eighteenth century that citrus could prevent and cure scurvy. Cavitation in water only, no matter whether hydrodynamic or acoustic, is a zero-waste circular economy process to convert industrial citrus processing waste into high-performance polysaccharides in high demand in a single-step at room temperature and ambient pressure using a modest amount of electricity as the only energy input.
Findings suggest that phytochemical-rich foods, especially whole fruits like oranges, may enhance liver function as an adjunct treatment for MASLD. The notable reduction in liver steatosis prevalence occurred independently of body weight changes. Further studies are needed to investigate the long-term effects of orange supplementation on steatosis and fibrosis progression and to identify the specific bioactive compounds and mechanisms involved.
