The American company PepsiCo, which left Russia, wants to register the Rockstar trademark in Russia for the sale of beverages, RIA Novosti found out after studying the electronic database of Rospatent.

The application was submitted to the agency on April 30, and PepsiCo is listed as the applicant.

The Expana Benchmark Price (EBP) for Brazilian orange juice concentrate continued its downward trend in April, falling for the ninth consecutive month. The current price stands at $4,400/metric tonnes (MT), down 32.3% year-over-year (y-o-y) and 15.4% month over month (m-o-m). This follows record-high prices reached in August 2024, driven by limited supply after a smaller 2024/25 MY harvest. As a result, juice inventories remain exceptionally low, with December 2024 stocks reported at 351,483 MT, marking a 24% y-o-y decline and 45.7% below the 10-year average.

Innovation is an important part of citrus cultivation, and medium and high density models represent a disruptive opportunity to modernize a sector that is committed to sustainability, but which must adapt to both current and future challenges. The fruit growing of the future, including citrus, will need to be highly technological or it won't be viable, even if this requires greater initial investment and a strict technical itinerary.

Based on the four graphs showing EU citrus imports, there are notable differences in import volumes for oranges, small citrus, lemons, and grapefruits between 2024 and 2025. For oranges, the EU imported 272,000 tons by February 2025, slightly below the 289,000 tons in 2024. This trend continued in March and April, with 346,000 tons and 417,000 tons in 2025, respectively, compared to 386,000 and 465,000 tons in 2024.

The results provide a mathematical framework for optimizing intervention timing and intensity, offering actionable strategies for citrus growers.

“The proposed genetic solutions (to greening) consist of finding resistance within Oceanian citrus genotypes,” said Morillon, the lead researcher for CIRAD. “Therefore, it is very, very important to evaluate this material and see to what extent it can be used in new research programs, whether for rootstocks or new varieties.”
