There are high expectations for the 2024/25 orange season in Cordoba, with positive initial prospects in terms of production, as greater volumes are expected compared to last year.

"The Regional Government of Andalusia published the production estimates last month, with data collected in August. For citrus fruits in particular, it is difficult to calculate the exact production, because the percentage of growers integrated in the producers' organization is not that high. 🔬 Research Worth Reading

The best response was achieved when explants were exposed to combination of BA (0.25 mg/l), Kinetin (0.25 mg/l) and GA (1 mg/l). This protocol significantly improved shoot initiation and growth, providing an efficient Finger lime micropropagation method. This micropropagation protocol promises sustainable Finger lime cultivation and commercial production. It ensures a stable supply of planting material and promotes genetic uniformity among propagated plants.

The research paves the way for improving Finger lime cultivation techniques and disease-free planting material development, boosting the productivity and economic viability of Finger lime production.

Florida-based scientists published an article in Microorganisms indicating citrus-derived endophytes have potential for managing HLB. Endophytes are endosymbionts, often bacteria or fungi, which live within a plant for at least part of its life cycle without causing apparent disease.

The authors of the article are Jessica Dominguez, Krishnaswamy Jayachandran and Kateel G. Shetty of Florida International University, and U.S. Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service scientists Joseph Krystel and Ed Stover (retired).
