The USDA NASS Florida Field Office’s October 9, 2026 Citrus Forecast for the 2026-2027 season projects Florida all-orange production at 10.00 million boxes, down 23% from the prior season, driven by fewer bearing trees, lower fruit counts per tree, and elevated droppage. Non-Valencia (early-midseason) oranges are forecast at 3.00 million boxes (−37%), with 4.70 million bearing trees, 394 fruit per tree, 35% projected droppage, and smaller-than-average fruit size; Valencia oranges are forecast at 7.00 million boxes (−14%), with 12.3 million bearing trees, 276 fruit per tree, 40% droppage, and below-minimum fruit size. All grapefruit is forecast at 1.30 million boxes (−4%; 1.20 million red and 0.10 million white), tangerines and tangelos at 0.45 million boxes (−2%), and lemons at 0.95 million boxes (+6%). The declines reflect ongoing tree losses and the lingering effects of prior weather events (hurricanes and freeze), with subsequent updates scheduled for January, April, and July 2027.
