What’s you preferred source of Vit C? Acerola? Orange? Hohes C?

The research funding is key for an industry struggling in recent years due to the effects of citrus greening and a series of storms that have slammed the state.

That’s caused exceedingly low production levels recently, for which farms have asked for state and federal help.

Demand for oranges has been lower than expected, and fresh and industrial orange prices remained relatively constant at source. Prices didn't collapse as they did last year due to the entry of oranges from outside the European Union, mainly from Egypt, and thanks to the decrease in production of the main producing countries, such as Brazil, the world's main orange juice producer. There is a lot happening in the world of specialty crops that impact growers’ business operations. The Citrus & Specialty Crop Expo will host a panel discussion with the leaders of three associations to tackle those topics.

The panel will include Mike Joyner, Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association; Chris Butts, Georgia Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association and Matt Joyner, Florida Citrus Mutual. These three leaders will discuss topics like tariffs/trade, labor, the farm bill, food safety and much more.

“It is rare to get three people together who have such collective knowledge on topics that are so specific and important to fruit and vegetable growers,” said Frank Giles, AgNet Media editor-in-chief. “This panel discussion is a must-see if you are involved in or interested in the specialty crop sector in the Southeast.”
